With the cost of day to day living consistently increasing, people seem to always be looking for the cheaper alternative. Some things you can get away with, some things you may not. As a builder, in my opinion, skimping on a new home build, extension or renovation is not something you want to prioritise.
I used to work for a project home company on the Sunshine Coast in my early years. My job was to go around and rectify all the poor quality workmanship on homes that had been completed and handed over. One of the reasons that there was a lot of dodgy work taking place was that project homes were, and still are, screwing down the subcontractors on price. This, in turn, has some contractors doing whatever they can to complete the job as fast as possible whilst cutting as many corners as they can.
What I’m getting at is that if you’re out to buy a cheap home, service or product, there’s always going to be the possibility of ending up dissatisfied. If you can’t afford to spend the extra couple bucks, maybe keep saving until you can. The wait will be worth it.
That old saying ‘a stitch in time saves nine’ rings true. Do it right the first time and it could save you a lot of time, headaches and MONEY.
