So, I’m a builder, not a life coach, but I’m sure we could agree that being transparent with people in life is a great way to avoid disappointment.
Why should the construction industry be any different? Why do some builders and contractors hand you a quote which simply has a $ figure on it? How do you know what you are getting? How do you know you’re not being ripped off? That’s the thing. You don’t!
If a contractor is not prepared to be transparent with you then I would suggest that you don’t be so transparent with the goodies in your pockets. Here’s a few questions to ask:
- What am I getting?
- How much am I getting?
- Are these quality products?
- Do they have a guarantee?
- Are you a licenced contractor?
- How long will it take to do?
If there is no problem having these questions answered or better yet, getting the information on the quote, then you are on the right track to a positive building experience.
